Beautiful but Difficult / Hand Cleaning

Beautiful but Difficult, February

This month’s “Beautiful but Difficult” comes from a well known Italian designer. The beautiful open weave iridescent fabric, of this spring coat, is coated with polyurethane (which gives the fabric it’s shine).

The problem with this spring coat is that the care instructions indicate to hand-wash. Jeeves has found that even with careful hand-washing, polyurethane can break down and the fabric could lose the iridescent quality.

Jeeves would only hand-clean this spring coat, no matter what the label instructions say. The beauty of this fabric is the iridescence, and if it faded, the coat would not be the same.

Hand-cleaning is just that, our craftsmen carefully treat the entire garment by hand, removing soil and stains without immersing the garment into water. Hand-cleaning is time intensive and most dry cleaning firms do not have the experience for this method.
