End of Summer & Stains

Each year we at Jeeves offer the same advice to our clients; once summer ends, please clean anything your wore during the season. Easy advice, but so many clients put away garments without cleaning if they do not see stains.

What happens over the cold, dark winter months, is that stains which were invisible slowly start to oxidize. Oxidation is a process in which a chemical substance changes because of the addition of oxygen. On a practical level, stains which dry clear which contain a component of sugar will turn yellow or brown over a few months time.  Typically a Jeeves client will discover these stains when they pull their white garments from their closet next spring.

Oxidized stains are difficult and sometimes impossible to remove. If you clean anything you have worn over the summer months before putting them away for the fall and winter you will be doing yourself and your garments a huge favor. If you have questions about stains or stain removal, the staff of Jeeves as always “at your service”.
