Fur + Cold = Long Life

Taking care of fur garments is super simple; just put them away for the summer in a closet at 50 degrees F, and with 45% humidity, and perhaps have it cleaned.

Most of us don’t have these conditions in our closets, so Jeeves offers fur storage under these exacting conditions. If you don’t live in NYC you should seek out a good cold storage company for this service.

Once the weather warms up and the humidity increases, your coats should not be stored at home. Humidity that is too high or low can cause the skins of your coat to degrade.

Even fur trimmed coats, such as those made by Canada Goose, can be ravaged by high humidity.

Fur coats should be cleaned according to the amount to wear. For example, lightly-worn fur coats should be cleaned every two to three years. If you wore your fur heavily, or it has a stain, have it cleaned before storing for the warm weather.

The Wall Street Journal (https://www NULL.wsj NULL.com/articles/storing-fur-coats-and-caring-for-them-1394062971) did a great job discussing fur care a few years ago – it’s worth a read.
