Needlepoint Cleaning

Jeeves New York rarely turns down an item for cleaning, no matter how unusual. Recently a Jeeves client brought in a few framed needlepoint designs that were made by her mother. As she was moving her mom to assisted living, our client wanted to have the needlepoints cleaned and deodorized before hanging them her mom’s new home.

The challenge for this project was that the surface of the needlepoints were coated with a cigarette smoke residue, had a strong smoke odor and Jeeves was not allowed to remove the needlepoints from the frames for cleaning.

Our Jeeves craftsmen carefully masked off the frames and hand-cleaned the surface of each needlepoint using dry cleaning and wet cleaning based solutions. This process removed the oily residue of the cigarette smoke. Individual stains and the entire surface of the needlepoints were treated with an mild oxidizing bleach for color brightening and further stain removal.

Once we were satisfied with the cleaning, we needed to address the odor issue. Hand-cleaning does not remove odors, so the needlepoints were placed in our ozone chamber. After many hours of treatment, the needlepoints were free of smoke odors.

Jeeves can solve cleaning problems over and above “regular” dry cleaners. If you have a special something that needs cleaning, but are not sure if it can be cleaned. Contact Jeeves New York, we are always at your service. (https://www NULL.jeevesny NULL.com/contact/)
